Mary- E-waste

                                                                E-Waste

E-waste is the used electronics which are destined for reuse, resale, and recycling. “E-waste” may be defined as discarded computers,  phones, office equipment, television set, and refrigerator . There are about 20-50 million tons of e-waste generated from world-wide.A large proportion of e-waste from world-wide are exported to Africa, and Asia. Electronic waste can cause serious health and pollution problems to human. E-waste problem is effecting our environment and we can help in some ways to solve this problem.

E-waste is one of the fastest growing type of waste. Many of e-waste ends up in Africa and Asia. E-waste is being exported, to Ghana from Europe and U.S. In the e-waste yard of Ghana, the workers search for metals such as coppers and the remaining plastic are either burnt or simply dumped. Guiyu(China) is a popular destination of e-waste from U.S and Europe, the old discarded electronics are structure by hands and the toxic waste is dumped in streams and fields, around the town of Guiyu the water is undrinkable.

E-waste pollution cause serious health to humans. Our devices are produced with toxic chemicals in it.Toxic is a very harmful environment to human’s health.Toxic chemicals turned into toxic smokes and released into atmosphere,( toxic smokes  are released from e-waste), which can easily accumulate in our body through the inhalation of contaminated air. The toxic smokes can easily accumulate in our body and cause cancer such as lung cancer, allergies, liver damage, and kidney failure .There are many people who died by lung cancer of breathing the contaminated air. While we know e-waste is harmful to human health, particularly to those who are working in e-waste dumps with unprevented from toxic smokes.

E-waste is occurring in our world, and who is responsible? it’s we. If we don’t take responsibility of this, are we going to live with this forever? Maybe we can do something better than throwing out our devices into the bins , example-(we can donate our operable computer or other devices to a local family, friend, school or technology training foundation. Or there are many websites devoted to giving you cash or gift cards for your unwanted gadgets e.g EBay’s instant sale program is a website that allows users to instantly sell or recycle their old electronic devices. We can also reconsidering for upgrading to a new phone.) It’s our responsible to take care of our world.
